Westbank aims to promote and improve the health and wellbeing of people in the local community, across Devon and beyond.
Westbank is a registered charity established in 1986 and became company limited by guarantee in 2007.
The organisation was originally set up to provide practical and emotional support to people in the villages along the west bank of the river exe. The organisation now works with communities and individuals across Devon. Westbank’s Community Care and Healthy Living Centre premises are in Exminster and there is a charity shop and meeting place in Starcross.
The organisation has been providing practical help such as shopping, transport to and from medical appointments, befriending and support since its inception. Supporting carers has always been a priority and this is now delivered and managed by Westbank through the Devon Carers service. Quality and active day care continues to be provided at our Day Centre which places 50 clients per week which also provides home cooked meals and bathing services.
Westbank are a strategic partner within the Devon Advocacy Consortium, advising us on issues that affect carers across the county.
